Mix & Match - The more eclectic look is very much in style at the moment, there is no longer a need to match all of your furniture and interior design. Mixing the old and new can look really stunning when done the right way.
A great way to revamp a piece of furniture can be to re-upholster a chair or sofa in a new modern funky fabric. Or if buying new - why not go for a more classical styled sofa, chair or dining chair and choose a bright contemporary fabric. We have recently tried this ourselves by ordering a classical Ercol Evergreen chair and using a Sanderson fabric - Dandelion Clocks in bright red. By doing this you get the advantage of combining two styles and create a truly unique piece.
The Beige Rut - Bright is Best - Sometimes it’s easy to keep everything neutral but where’s the fun in that? Experimenting with different colours, textures and patterns is a great way to let out your inner 'artist' and create a room that is truly unique to you, this is also much more rewarding.
Stripes - Stripes are very popular at the moment. We are able to see from our new fabric and wallpaper books (in our library) that there are lots of designs to choose from. No longer is there 'a standard stripe'. With great use of colours and textures, it is easy to find a stripe to suit you. Use on a feature wall or on your scatter cushions to add pattern and colour to any room.
Patterns & Florals - As well as the stripe florals feature a lot for 2011 interior design trends. With so many patterns, styles and colour palettes available it’s clear to see florals are here to stay. From the bold and structured to the pretty and feminine it’s an easy and simple way to add character to a room. Like the stripes, you can use the Pattern/floral theme on your walls, curtains and upholstery. Personalise your home with this beautiful trend.
Painted Furniture - Light and airy, fresh and clean, this brilliant trend has always been around but over the last few years its populairty has increased. A very romantic and classic trend often associated with the 'country cottage' look, it is very easy to achive and looks simly stunning. Team your painted furniture with pastel shades and floral patterns to complete the look.
